Music Therapy is an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals. After assessing the strengths and needs of each client, goals and objectives are then created with the input of the client and their team. The goals are then individualized to the client with the treatment including creating, singing, moving to, and/or listening to music with the guidance of a qualified Music Therapist. Through musical involvement in a healing context, clients’ abilities are strengthened and transferred to other areas of their lives. Music therapy has been found effective in many areas such as: physical rehabilitation and assisting in movement, increasing motivation, providing an outlet for expression of feeling, increasing communication skills, leadership skills, socialization skills, fine motor dexterity along with many other areas. Musical activates in the form of drum circles are also offered twice a month during the school year. It is here the Music Therapy client is able to pull together all that has been achieved during individualized sessions to be able to interact, lead and socialize in a creative and meaningful way. Where else can life changing goals and objectives be obtained while having fun creating your own music at your own pace in a positive environment surrounded by your friends? Happiness Bag.
